Social networking has become one of those magical phrases. You merely mention it and wonderful things are sure to happen. Web traffic will increase by 1000%, conversion rates will approach ludicrous levels, sales depts will be curled up in dark corners trying to hide from the onslaught of new customers clamoring for products, and then it’s only a matter of time before Microsoft reaches through your screen and hands you a bunch of money for your company…
Right?
Maybe not, but all this stuff sounds good and even if it isn’t the be all for the future of business it certainly is something that’s good to know about and be able to decide if any of it fits your business goals now or in the future. But what if nobody in your business knows about this stuff (and your kids are unavailable) ? What are you to do? Read this blog?..I hope so.
My goal is not to wow you by squeezing every bit of techno-jargon I can possibly fit into each post (there’s lots of that already), but to de-mystify, explain and stay up-to-date in this world of Facebook, Blogs, Myspace and Instant Messenger.
Am I some kind of expert in all things “Social Networking“? Maybe, but I have spent quite a bit of time researching, trying, testing and changing how my company and I do these things. As I learn, I want to share my knowledge (might squeeze in some real examples from our sites) just as other people have done and will continue to do for me. I also hope to keep you up on the news that’s related as well, so check back soon and I’ll do my best to be your guide.
