The Story Behind Our 9/11 Awareness Ribbons

It began with an order from a well-known chain of home improvement stores. Custom 9/11 awareness ribbons were requested so that they could be passed out to employees for the tenth anniversary of September 11th. We loved the idea so much that it became the inspiration we needed to create an entire line of September 11th awareness ribbons, stickers, and magnets for printmyribbon.com. What a great response we’ve had, with orders coming in from all over the United States! It has been wonderful to see that even after 10 years, the unity that we felt following the morning of the 9/11 attacks is still strong. And even though the date has passed to order 9/11 awareness ribbons and still receive them in time for the tenth anniversary, we are happy to announce that this product will remain on the site permanently because it’s never too late to show that you have “not forgotten”. 2008 Race for the Cure: We did it!

We did it! We crossed the finish line! We had such a great day on Sunday.

The weather was absolutely perfect!

The breast cancer awareness ribbons we made earlier in the week (see photos here, here,
here, & here) were a hit!

The overall energy of downtown Toledo was amazing! Chrys Peterson, a local anchorwoman
and Race for the Cure enthusiast, got the event off to a great start!

Everyone was there to have a good time.

Local cheerleaders…

…and high school marching bands lined the course.

Toledo police officers joined in the fun as well, dancing to the beat of the music and placing
pink rabbit ears on their horses.

The Toledo Blade reported 18,000 people participated in the event and donations are
expected to be around $750,000, a record for the northwest Ohio area. Great job, Toledo!

Despite being a bit sore afterwards, it felt so good to support so many breast cancer survivors…

…and do our part in finding a cure.

2008 Race for the Cure: On Your Mark, Get Set…Go!

This Sunday a few of us from the company are going to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. I’m sure some of you are familiar with this event because they are held in so many different cities throughout the United States, but for those of you who have never heard of it, Race for the Cure® is an annual 5k run/walk race where all of the proceeds go towards finding a cure for breast cancer.

To gear up for this Sunday’s race we’ve gathered donations, created our t-shirts and today we’re assembling pink “Support the Cure” awareness ribbons to pass out at the race Sunday morning. And don’t worry, I won’t forget to pack a camera. I can’t wait to take tons of pictures so that I can post them and show you early next week how exciting this experience was. The good news is that this event gets A LOT of attention. I’m expecting this to be a pretty amazing, emotional experience. I’ve been told by race organizers that participation has already increased from last year’s race. I can’t wait to hear final numbers Sunday night. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some stretches to do.

A few months ago my sister and her husband surprised my family with the news that they were expecting their first baby. We couldn’t be happier! I must admit that since then I have been a little baby crazy! One thing I’m especially excited about is the great selection of “green” baby products out there. I had no idea there were so many options for new parents! Here are some of my favorites…

Green Living: It’s Easy Being Green

I guess all of my talk at the office about recycling and monthly trips to Whole Foods Market has really paid off. I was recently asked to do “Green Living” posts on a regular basis and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

My interest to become more environmentally-conscious began a couple of years ago. I started recycling, buying organic food and using energy-efficient light bulbs. It may not sound like much, but I think it is a great start. I can’t wait to find new “green” ideas and when I do, I’ll be sure to share them with you. You may love some and dislike others, but I’m confident that you’ll learn something new that will make you feel as good as I do. And most importantly, Mother Earth will thank you.
