The 4th of July, Independence Day, the day we celebrate our country’s declaration of independence from Great Britain. This is a very important day in the history of our nation and as such many of us take the day off and enjoy our freedoms with friends and family. As Memorial Day approaches this weekend and we’re all in the patriotic mindset, it is the perfect time to begin plans for your Independence Day celebrations.

We Americans love our parties, especially anytime you get to fire up the grill and cook up some burgers, brats, hot dogs, or steaks. Card Corner: Crayons

This card is more about fun than business. Whether you call it a calling card, information card or simply business card, this design was created as a way for kids to have something to share with their friends. We’ve put information to contact the child’s mom so it doesn’t give away sensitive information about the child. The crayon graphic and “got crayons? icon further the childlike nature of this card.

(Mommy) Card Corner: Delicious

We’re calling this a “Mommy” Card…i suppose for obvious reasons, but we feel there needs to be a line of distinction drawn between business cards and a card that is more for moms (and kids too) to share with friends when they’re out at the park or the city pool hanging out. Just think, instead of scrambling for a scrap of paper as you keep one eye on your child swinging on the monkey rings, you can simply pull one of these cards out and hand it over. You’ll come across so on top of things, why wouldn’t the other mom want to setup a play date sometime soon…This design, called “Delicious” has a good mix of elegance and fun, so it is good for many occasions.

Card Corner: Country Musical

In a couple of months, my wife, another PMT employee, some friends and myself will be running this year’s Country Music Marathon in Nashville, TN. Besides being the home of part of my wife’s family, it is also the home of country music. The design for this card gets straight to the point with the simple graphic and contact info. This simple contact card is fashioned after a business card without all the company related information, so the individual artist/musicians name and contact details stand out that much more.

This Sunday (Feb. 7) is Charles Dickens birthday, and I think in light of all his accomplishments in the literary world, it is important to continue reminding people to keep reading. In this world of online this and electronic that, it is increasingly important to remember the feel of actual paper bound together in your hands as you take in the words from its pages. Good Ole’ Punxsutawney Phil has come out, seen his shadow and thus predicted 6 more weeks of winter. For some this may be reason for a bit of consternation, but I look at it differently. To me, this means there’s still time to have a party…how about a wine tasting party, that always goes good during these cold months. Special Edition Card Corner…Bookmarks…

We all need to read more right? I know, you say, but Jeremy, I read blogs (like PMTVoice) and websites all day long…but when was the last time you sat down to read one of the classics like (one of my favorites) To Kill a Mockingbird, or The Scarlett Letter? How about Sun Tzu’s The Art of War? Did you know that “If you are anxious to fight, you should not go to meet the invader near a river which he has to cross”? I’m not entirely sure why that’s the case, but if I ever find myself in that situation, i’ll be glad I read that. Additionally, in our day and age, with life being so busy and fast paced, it is almost impossible to sit down and read an entire book. These and many more are great reasons to need bookmarks, and what better way to mark your place than with custom printed bookmarks.

Get them to support Cancer Awareness or the organization you have a passion for. The cool thing is, we’ve done some wheeling and dealing with our suppliers, and some accounting wizardry to allow for quantities as low as 25, so you don’t have to be one of those huge corporate conglomerates who would buy thousands or more of these things.
